I thought this guy was fantastic to hear on the radio. And very apt for Grey Lynn at this time. I was teaching a unit on how to make a difference to years 5 and 6 a couple of years ago, and one girl thought she would write to the city council asking them to slow the traffic down because the children wanted to play on the street. The council's response was - DON'T! At this point in time more and more people are opting to build big fences and shut themselves off from the street. Our kids played on the street - now I feel vindicated.

Great - can't wait. It will be exciting to discuss the long-term prospects of transportation and traffic within the context of transition towns.

Do we transition transportation? this is the question I am trying to answer within my work and within my life as a transportation engineer. I can't wait to hear what David and others have to say..

cheers,
Jon
