Good morning,

Thank you for your email.  Foodstuffs values its customers and your
feedback is very much appreciated.

In response to customer feedback that we have received we have made the
decision to remove the charge for plastic bags in New World and Four
Square stores in the Foodstuffs Auckland region.  

While I&#039;m sure that you will be disappointed with this decision we
simply couldn&#039;t ignore the message that we were sent from a number of
customers regarding the fact that they simply would not stand for a
compulsory charge. 

We will continue to put measures in place that recognise those who use
their reusable bags and we expect this to have ongoing benefits in
reducing plastic bag use.  

New World and Four Square remain the major sponsors of Keep New Zealand
Beautiful.
