Tour of Lynda Hallinan’s Urban Garden
It was a full garden at Lynda Hallinan’s place this afternoon as she took a large group on a tour of her urban plot. Lynda was amazingly generous with her
time and keen to offer lots of advice and answer questions. Lynda was concerned her garden was not looking its best after a long, dry summer but the results of what she has been able to grow in a very urban environment are impressive. You can regularly find Lynda at the Grey Lynn Farmers Market selling the surplus from her garden.
Thanks to Lynda for her support of the Grey Lynn 2030 Week and to everyone who came along . We received $110 in koha which will go towards more community planting by Grey Lynn 2030. Our next monthly meeting on April 14th is on the theme of Community Gardens and will be a good opportunity to share more details about some of the plans under way.

Art Studios Tour
The tour of artist studios was an absolute

delight today with the artists involved generously inviting us into their work places to see firsthand an impressive range of creative styles with the opportunity to ask questions and interact with the artists.
The morning tour took us to visit Jude Graveson’s
studio where she creates membrane sculpture using animal gut, Annette Isbey, oil painter who has a huge studio set in lush gardens overlooking the zoo and to long established Westmere artists
Louise Rive and Chuck Joseph studio/shop Edge City (Old Mill Road). The tour finished at Karl Maughan’s studio tucked away in Grey Lynn.
The afternoon tour provided an opportunity to see glass artists Garry Nash and Peter Viesnik at
work as well as a visit to Karen Chan and Roland Andreassend who gave a personal tour of their contemporary object designs at their studio on Rose Road.
The tour provided a fabulous opportunity to experience just how many creative people there are in our community at places we don’t usually get a chance to visit. The tours were also perfectly suited to cycling between the studios.
The tour is going to be repeated on Thursday. You can choose to do either morning or afternoon tours or both for a total artistic immersion, with time for lunch in between. You can see more photos from the tour here.

In recognition of World Water Day, Grey Lynn 2030 together with EcoMatters Environment Trust and the support of Oxfam and TAPAC are pleased to present an exclusive screening of Tapped the Movie . From the producers of Who Killed the Electric Car this timely documentary is a behind-the-scenes look into the unregulated and unseen world of the water industry.
“With style and nerve and righteous anger, the film exposes the bottled water industry’s role in suckering the public, harming our health, accelerating climate change, contributing to overall pollution, and increasing America’s dependence on fossil fuels. All while gouging consumers with exorbitant and indefensible prices”
