Christmas cheer in Grey Lynn

Grey Lynn Street Party

9 December, 4.30pm to 8pm

The Surrey Crescent shops would like to welcome you and your family to a Christmas Cheer in Grey Lynn street party with live music, food, gift stalls, and much Christmas cheer. Listen to the groovy rock melody of Tribal State and Concrete Jungle, the beautiful sound of Natasha Urale, and the angelic voice of Tree Stylus.

If you want to bring a small gift, these will be donated to the Grey Lynn Woman’s Refuge and Starship Hospital

Last Green Screen of the year

Grey Lynn 2030 Green Screen presents: Heart and Soil -A documentary about sustainable agriculture
This documentary shows the viewer a complex portrait of food and farming that is all a part of our lives. Whether you have long been a supporter of local food and farming or are considering making your first visit to a farmers market, this film will be seen in turn as charming, devastating, hopeful, historical and most of all inspirational.

Sunday 27th November, 7.30pm in the Garden Room, Grey Lynn Community Centre, 510 Richmond Road.
$2 entry.

Eco Space at the Grey Lynn Park Festival

Saturday 19th November 9.30am – 5.30pm

For the last 2 years Grey Lynn 2030 has hosted the Eco-space at the Festival.  Located around a huge teepee the Eco- space is a village of groups that share a sustainability,  community and local focus. 

This year we will be joined in the Eco-space by:

  •  Kelmarna gardens and Framework Trust
  • Grey Lynn Farmers Market
  • Tumeke Cycle Space, the community bike maintenance group, who will be bringing their famous bike powered smoothie machine
  • Carol Downer, local professional beekeeper and her hives (Carol’s honey is on sale at the Grey Lynn Farmers’ Market every Sunday)
  • Our sister transition community of Mount Eden Village People.
  • Grey Lynn Business Association promoting a new Grey Lynn Neighbourhood Watch initiative
  • Grey Lynn Community Centre
  • Grey Lynn 2030 Waste Away
  • Auckland Community Zero Waste Alliance – Waste minimisation  display
  • Toi Ora Arts Trust
  • Mexi – Kai truck

The interior of the teepee will be transformed into a comfortable, tranquil place to chill in away from the festival crowds.  Drop by the Eco- space to relax, find out more about sustainable living and how to get involved locally.

Celebrating our summer Christmas season

St Columba, 92 Surrey Crescent Grey Lynn

Once again it is the delight of St Columba, Grey Lynn to host a community garden party celebrating summer and the Christmas season. This is a great opportunity to meet others from the community in a relaxed and friendly environment.

It has been the custom over recent years for St Columba to host a strawberry feast in the beautiful garden at St Columba, 92 Surrey Crescent, Grey Lynn, with local choirs offering Christmas carols for our enjoyment and heaps of strawberries and meringues to share.

Win a prize for the best decorated hat (a children’s and an adult’s prize!).

Shout for Samoa Community Festival on today

Saturday 1 October  12.30 – 6pm

 St Joseph’s Catholic School, Great North Road, Grey Lynn

  • Food, beverage, craft and community stalls
  • Organised activities for the children
  • Performance and entertainment

The event is free and all are welcome

The Shout for Samoa Community Festival is the last of the Grey Lynn Business Association’s Adopt-a-second-team activities. Grey Lynn  adopted Manu Samoa for the Rugby World Cup and has hosted a number of events to celebrate. The Community Festival will promote Grey Lynn’s support for Manu Samoa and our diverse cutural and artistic heritage.

Velociteers to perform at the West Lynn Street Party

The Velociteers – Auckland’s premier synchronised cycling group – are performing at the West Lynn Street Party & Twilight Market this Thursday 29th September at 6pm and 8pm in Francis Street Reserve
