GetAcross supporters,
We have had a great meeting of the supporters and it was decided to have the walk/ride on Sunday May 24 at 9am.
Meeting in the Curran Street park next to the bridge.
This date is 50 years after the original opening to the public to walk across and allows us time to coordinate the Demonstration March with the Police and the NZ Transport Agency.
Keep a watch on the getacross.org.nz website for the details of the May 24 event. Tell your friends as this could be the biggest party for 50 years!
If you want to get more involved and help us organise the event, our organising meeting is on ThursdayMay 7, 7:30pm in the Freemans Bay Community Hall (52 Hepburn St).
Cheers!… Bevan 09 425 1928

Are you interested in helping the campaign to Get Across the Harbour Bridge by bike or on foot? Here is the request for help Grey Lynn 2030 has been sent.
Greetings GetAcross supporters,
Thanks to all who completed our survey (over 2,000 of you did). The key result was 75% saying “yes” to a demonstration march if the NZ Transport Agency do not allow Mike Lee’s idea of a trial on the Bridge.
True to form, the NZTA dismissed the idea, so it’s time to get our marching boots ready! We’re planning the demonstration march for Sunday morning 9am, May 3rd, 2009, starting at the Westhaven end of the Bridge.
Can you help make it happen?
Come along to a preparation meeting on March 31st, 7:30pm until 9pm at the Main Hall, Freemans Bay Community Centre (52 Hepburn Street, Ponsonby).
We need volunteers to help with:
Press releases and media
Flyer design and distribution
Liaison for other organisations (Eg: Greenpeace, Green party, etc)
General administration and tasks
Also you could make a small donation to help with costs (printing, meeting room hire, etc.) by internet banking to the GetAcross bank a/c: 12-3057-0824362-01 (Walk Auckland, ASB Wyndam Street)
Learn more at www.getacross.org.nz and post your comments at:

Thank you

Get Across Campaign
Would you take part in the proposed trial opening for walking and cycling on the Harbour Bridge in April? Would you support a protest march if the trial was not allowed? We’d like to hear from you, please complete our 2 minute survey here:
An update on where things are at.
The NZ Transport Agency have shown they have no interest in providing
walking or cycling access on the Harbour Bridge in the near future.
Read why their excuses are not valid here:
Given that we have explored all diplomatic options with the NZTA, we think it’s time to show them that Aucklanders are serious about being able to walk and cycle over our Harbour Bridge.
We hope you’ll support ARC chair Mike Lee’s suggestion for a trial access
each Sunday morning in April’09. If the NZTA reject his suggestion (which is a distinct possibility), then we want to know your views on a public protest across the bridge. So it’s important that you complete our 2 minute survey to tell us what you think.
Please forward this info to your friends, encouraging them to voice their
support at http://www.getacross.org.nz/ if they haven’t already done so.
Thanks and best regards!
