This-Way-Of-Life Green ScreenGrey Lynn 2030 launched Green Screen in February 2009 at the Grey Lynn Community Centre, to show films that we thought would be of interest to our community and to create discussion and debate.

Over the years we screened docos with an environmental message, and covered everything from a man who builds houses out of plastic bottles (Garbage Warrior), the impact of globalisation on wine growing in France (Mondo Vino), colony collapse disorder in beehives (the Vanishing of the Bees), LA Latinos fighting to save the biggest community garden in the US (The Garden) to award winning New Zealand made documentaries such as This Way of Life.

The community screenings provided a lot of inspiration and calls to action. After showing Tapped the movie for World Water Day in 2010 (in collaboration with Eco matters) we were inspired to push for drinking fountains at West Lynn and Grey Lynn.

We don’t currently have plans to continue with Green Screen on a regular basis but we are happy to advertise community screenings or events on our website. Please email

Thank you for all those who have assisted with Green Screen over the years. It was lots of fun!
