Grey Lynn Farmers Market

The idea to set up a local Farmers Market came from of one of the first community meetings of Grey Lynn 2030 back in 2008.

Access to locally sourced food is a vital part of our vision of a resilient, sustainable community . It was excellent to have the Farmers Market establish quickly through the efforts of a small team committed to practical action.

After incubation inside Grey Lynn 2030, the Grey Lynn Farmers market was launched in September 2009 as community led incorporated society.

The Grey Lynn Farmers Market is 100% community owned and operated.

Every Sunday the Grey Lynn Farmers Market runs selling seasonal produce direct from local growers.

The market is open every Sunday 8.30 am-12.00 pm at the Grey Lynn Community Centre, Richmond Road.

Artisan baked goods, cheese, preserves, free range eggs, quality meats, delicious prepared foods, organic seedlings. The list is long and changes often.

Check it out any Sunday. Do your shopping, meet some locals and grab a tasty snack.

Waste minimisation and plastic bag free

The market has a philosophy of zero waste minimisation; for example the  'Bring it Back' depot where you can bring in or take away glass jars, plastic bags, batteries, cellphones and bras!

Market waste is carefully sorted and then composted or recycled correctly. The market is working towards zero waste.

For the Kids

With access to the safe, enclosed Grey Lynn Community Centre playground,  the maket is super child friendly. Very good for little kids to play and their parents to chat over coffee.

Friends of the Market

We encourage regular visits by offering a Friends of the Market subscription. Membership costs $30 for the year for  whole range of weekly specials and a whole range of other benefits plus the right to vote for the management committee which runs the organisation.

If you're interested in helping to guide this market or to have a stall, have a chat with the Market Manager, Carol Gunn. Carol is always to be found at the market on Sunday.
