Our community has been focussed on managing our waste since we started in 2008. We run projects on recycling, have organised ewaste collections in Waitemata, composting, food scraps. We have a sewing group, Stitch in Time that meets monthly.
In Waitemata many people live in town houses, apartments and blocks of flats. The complexity of managing waste for many is more complex to that for the stand alone houses. We have worked with residents in Apartments to help them improve their Waste Managment.
Community Recycling Centre
We worked for 12 years to have a local recycling centre. Wai Orea CRC funded by Auckland Council is managed by Henderson community group MPHS.
ReUse Markets
We run two "flea" markets which focus on reuse. The Grey Lynn Car Boot Market and the ReUse Market in the city centre.
Community Waste Projects
We have been doing community focussed projects since we started 2008.
