The Auckland Council is working on the Energy and Climate Change Mitigation Strategy to transform Auckland into a sustainable, low carbon and energy resilient city. The strategy is a response to climate change and greenhouse gas emissions in Auckland. It will bring benefits and opportunities for our economy, enhance the environment and improve the liveability of our city.

A discussion document has been released called ‘Powering Auckland’s Low Carbon Transformation’ which will inform the development of the Strategy. The document reflects the objectives of The Auckland Plan for energy efficiency and climate change mitigation.

Submissions to the discussion document are due on 6th July.  Please get in touch with Chris Olson (021 229 0329)  if you’d like to work on a submission under the Grey Lynn 2030 Energy group banner . The draft Strategy will be released in September 2012 providing a further opportunity for community consultation before it is adopted by the Auckland Council in December.
